|This finely painted Japanese small two-fold screen is depicting an outdoor scene with hills and a group of women hunting for mushrooms in the lower left-hand side, while off in the distance figures are seated on a red rectangular cloth on a hill top, in a cluster of trees men are engaged in an activity, on the opposite hill are two male figures looking through a telescope, and below is a samurai warrior seated on a red blanket with his daisho set (swords) behind him, while a female figure is cooking over a flame with smoke getting into her eyes and a male figure is holding a fan and faning it to remove the smoke. The facial features of each of the male and female figures are well painted. The various scenes are in good condition. Condition: the background has some areas of loss, there is a soil mark on the right lower corner of the fabric border. Age: 19th Century – Size: 36” high x 41 ¾” wide (91.44 x 106.04 cm)|
