This original print is from the series 100 Aspects of the Moon “Moon of the filial son – Ono no Takamura - Ono no Takamura (802-852 AD) was a scholar of literature and history who rose to high rank in the Imperial Court of emperor Saga. He is said to have had great respects for his parents. Yoshitoshi possibly used the iconography of a Chinese filial son Ceng Shen (506-437 BC), who sensed that his mother needed him while he was gathering brushwood. Condition: : Good color, very good impression, light even toning, a few small stains and the right corner is missing and left corner has a small tear. Artist: Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839-1892) - Age: 1889 – Size: Oban 9.5" x 14
