An ancient Egyptian group of eight sheet gold fragments. Probably from a piece of furniture. The top group depicts a cobra (1 1/8 inches high), a Ba Bird (1 1/4 inches high), a Horus (1 1/4 inches high) and a winged falcon (1 1/4 inches high). The bottom group depicts an Isis/Hathor holding a sceptre (1 7/8 inches high), a Neith (1 1/2 inches high), an Isis (1 1/4 inches high) and an Aegis with a falcon in the center (1 3/4 inches long). A fine bronze figure of Osiris. Depicted mummiform, with pleasant facial expression, wearing a striated plumed crown, fronted with ureaus, arms emerging from tightly-fitted garment, with hands grasping the striated crook and flail and wearing a broad collar, tied on back. Late Period, after 600 B.C. 3 1/4 inches high. From an old Belgian family collection, acquired in the 1970s.

Steatite amulet of the bow-legged dwarf god, with defined toes, standing on crocodiles, hands grasping serpents, with defined facial details, horus falcons behind ears, wearing an elaborate crown and an inscribed winged isis on the back. Possibly made from a large piece of light brown flint, a colour characteristic of a type of Egyptian flint called chert. Flaked on one side, the underside being completely smooth. Found near Thebes, Pre-Dynastic Period, Ca. 4500-3500 B.C. 4 1/4 inches long. Intact. Formerly in the collection of Leighton Wilkie (1900-1993).

The human-headed falcon wearing a tri-partite wig with long lappets and the feet set apart on an integral rectangular base. Ptolemaic Period, 300-32 B.C. 5 1/2 inches high. Some wear with traces of gesso and polychrome. From the New York Estate of Stuart Bart. The Ba was portrayed as a human-headed bird, whose duty was to reunite the soul with the body. The Ba-bird was often shown hovering over the deceased's mummy or leaving or entering the tomb at will.

A New Kingdom, fired clay cone with the circular face bearing stamped inscription, reading "The venerated one in the presence of Osiris, the king’s scribe Huy of Hut-heret-ib, true of voice. (Hut-heret-ib was a city in the 10th nome of Lower Egypt, near Athribis), 18th Dynasty, 1570-1293 B.C. Face measures 3 inches diameter, 7 3/4 inches long. Intact. A New Kingdom, fired clay cone with the circular face bearing stamped inscription, reading "The venerated on in the presence of Osiris, the hereditary prince Amunhotep called Huy, that celebrity throughout the land, son of the dignitary Hapu. 18th Dynasty, 1570-1293 B.C. Face measures 2 1/2 inches diameter, 5 1/2 inches long. Intact. From a Swiss private collection, 1960s-1970s.
