| Tyche was originally a Greek goddess of chance but she was converted to a goddess of prosperity with cities under her protection. She is the daughter of Hermes and Aphrodite, and is the Roman equivalent of Fortuna. Depicted seated, with serene facial expression, wearing a long drapery garment and hair pulled back in a rear bun. Repaired at the neck and some ancient loss down her right arm. Ca. 2nd/3rd century A.D. 8 3/8 inches high. Ex. Froelich collection, NY., 1980s. | ||
