A FINE PAIR OF ANCIENT EGYPTIAN FAIENCE AMULETS

A fine pair of flat-back Egyptian amulets. Probably from the same ensemble. One of the four sons of Horus, Hapy was the baboon-headed protector of the lungs. Depicted mummiform, with both hands grasping a cloth. Late Period, 600-300 B.C. 2 inches high. Intact. Pierced for suspension. The human-headed Imsety was also one of the four sons of Horus. His role was to protect the liver of the deceased and was the guardian of the South. He was protected by the goddess Isis. Depicted mummiform, with both hands grasping a cloth. Late Period, 600-300 B.C. Just under 2 inches high. Intact. Pierced for suspension. Belgian art market, early 1980's.
