AN ANCENT EGYPTIAN WOOD HEAD OF A COBRA
Finely carved wood head of a cobra, with well-defined details. The back appears to be in the shape of an attachment, possibly from a piece of furniture. New Kingdom - 3rd Intermendiate Period, 1400-1070 B.C. 4 1/4 inches long. Remains of linen, gesso and gilding. From the Harold Leeds, Wheaton Galatine collection, purchased in Egypt in the late 1940s.
