Framed cartonnage ensemble with the lower chest section depicting a winged Nut, with each hand holding the Maat "Feather of Truth," and wearing a solar disc. The leg section, in two facing columns, depicting the Four Sons of Horus. On top, the human-headed Imsety, protector of the liver and the baboon-headed Hapy, protector of the lungs, underneath are the jackal-headed Duamutef, protector of the stomach, and the hawk-headed Qebhsenuef, protector of the large intestines, and below, the two human-headed Imsety. With a center line of hieroglyphic text and with an elaborate, decorative border. Ptolemaic Period, 300-32 B.C. Upper section measures 6 1/2 inches wide X 3 1/2 inches high. Lower section measures 12 inches wide X 4 3/4 inches wide. All original pigment. Frame measures 20 1/2 inches X 14 1/2 inches. From an old German collection.
