Unusual faience amulet depicting the head of Hathor. With bulging eyes, characteristic bovine ears and wearing a thick wig. 26th/30th Dynasty, 600-300 B.C. 1 inch high. Mounted. From an old New Jersey private collection, acquired in the 1960s. Hathor was a goddess of music, dance, foreign lands and fertility who helped women in childbirth.
