Depicted as a pregnant female hippopotamus, wearing a tripartite wig, with human breasts, the hind legs of a lion and the tail of a crocodile. Late Period, 600-332 B.C. 1 1/2 inches high. Intact with intact suspension loop. From a Dutch collection. Tauret's most common role was as a protectoress of pregnant women.
