AN ANCIENT EGYPTIAN CARTONNAGE ENSEMBLE
Polychrome cartonnage ensemble in two sections. The upper section depicting a winged solar disk with uraei, disced falcon-head terminals and elaborate broad collar. The lower section depicts a kneeling winged Nut with outstretched wings and hands grasping Maat feathers. Two of the four sons of Horus depicted on each side - Imsety in human form, protector of the liver and Duamutef in jackal form, protector of the stomach. Ptolemaic Period, 305-30 B.C. Upper section measures 8 inches X 6.5 inches. Lower section measures 8.5 inches X 5.5 inches. All original polychrome. Mounted. Ex. French collection.
