| “Temple” form with swiveled head secured by a wood pin which broke when the lead was pulled anchoring the head in the whale’s flesh and leading to the legendary “Nantucket sleigh ride” with the whale towing one or more dories until exhaustion allowed its harvest. 33 1/4” length. Conical socket with screw hole for attachment to the haft and hammer finished shaft. Deep rich brown stabilized surface rust. From an untouched chest of these which came to market directly from a century of storage in the industry about 15 years ago. Just these two left from that group. Wonderful character. | ||
