From my personal collection! This is a RARE and wonderful English poured wax baby with an open mouth and inset tiny upper teeth. He is a life-size infant at 20” long, and he is in overall excellent condition. He is
so realistic and expressive in person! His stenciled cradle and antique quilt are not included, but could be purchased separately by the baby's new owner - I have always displayed him in it. Layaway is always an option, but please contact me prior to purchase to discuss terms. Here are the details:
Head: His poured wax head is in excellent condition. There is no cracking or crazing, just some little dings around the shouldplate edge – really nice condition. He has stunning icy-blue spiraled eyes that are wide and strongly almond-shaped. He has wispy inset blond hair. His lips are barely parted and inside he has tiny upper teeth.
Body: His original body is white cloth with straw stuffing and poured wax lower arms and legs. The body is very clean. His baby legs have marvelous anatomical detailing with defined toenails and a cute little upraised big toe on one foot. One thumb could possibly be repaired. If so, it is very well done – I have given you a photo. His arms and legs are made without grommets – in fact, no holes for attachment of any kind. He is really interesting!
Clothes: He wears an antique baby gown that measures 34” long - it is folded under in the full length photo. His bonnet is made of antique fabric, lace and ribbon. Underneath, he wears a one-piece knit “union suit” type garment. And under this, he wears a form fitting cotton body covering…his body has not been recovered, it is removable and has kept his body very clean all these years. I have opened the front of the covering to show his pristine body condition. He also wears knit booties that fit perfectly.
