This is a charming depiction of a pair of dancing German children, in all original working condition. Turn the ivory crank and they twirl as music plays.
The two dolls are by Gebruder Kuhnlenz, marked GK with a sunburst, 44-15. He measures 7.5” and she is 7” tall. They are guaranteed to have perfect bisque heads. They have glass eyes, open mouths with upper teeth, and composition arms and legs with carton bodies. Their matching clothing is believed to be original and they each have their original blonde mohair wigs. The boy’s wig is tied back with a black ribbon in a courtly style.
The wooden box is paper covered. There is a split in the wood along the top. It is marked on the bottom, Wilhelm Pohl / Wein, as well as the Vienna address of the maker. The box itself measures 8.75” by 7.75” by 2.5” tall. The overall height of the piece is 11”.
