This is a gorgeous earlier Simon and Halbig 939 with a closed mouth. She has perfect bisque of excellent quality. Her Sonneberg-type 8-ball body retains the original finish. She wears an appealing antique layered costume and retains her original wig! Layaway is always an option, but please contact me before purchase to discuss terms. Here are the details:
Head: Her bisque head is perfect with no cracks, chips or hairlines. She has a closed mouth with a slight white space between her lips. She has spiraled brown paperweight eyes. Her rim is cut high with two stringing holes at the front. She retains her original human hair wig, which has braids circling around the back and ending at her crown. She is marked at the rear rim in the simple early style: S10H / 939. Examination: There is a tiny nick at one earring hole and an occasional inconspicuous speckle.
Body: This body style is referred to as Sonneberg-type and it is typical of these dolls. This earlier version has the desirable 8-ball jointing with straight wrists. The torso has much anatomical detail. I am not able to remove her camisole and I prefer to not remove her boots again for her photos. There is paint chipping on one wooden thigh and a chip in the composition behind the back neck socket. There are no repairs and the finish is entirely original.
Clothes: She wears a lovely antique layered costume! She wears a charming pink dotted dress with a tucked white bodice, trimmed in lace. Underneath, she wears four unders, including a three-piece matched set. She wears a knit camisole with lace straps, plus matching panties, pantaloons and slip. She has antique side-button keystone leather boots with the original buttons. Finally, she wears a very fine antique lacy hat with a wide wired brim and large ribbon bow. The inside is frayed, but it is otherwise fabulous.
