This is a very large example of a desirable early German China Lady with braided bun and pink tint. She has a sturdy antique cloth body with leather arms. She is fully dressed, wearing a really nice antique two-piece suit, unders and antique side button boots. She was sold to me as perfect, but I believe a hairline on her rear shoulderplate has been professionally repaired. Layaway is always an option, but please contact me prior to purchase to discuss terms. Here are all the details:
Head: Her beautiful glazed porcelain shoulder-head is perfectly painted in the Kestner style – left facing eye highlights, circular nostrils and a white space between her upturned lips. Her hair is pulled high at the sides, ending in a large braided bun in back. She has neat brush-strokes framing her face. Examination: She has some speckling and some very minor rubs on her bun. On very close examination, it looks to me as if a hairline on her back shoulderplate was professionally repaired.
Body: Her antique stitch-jointed body is made of heavy twill. Her brown leather arms are made to look like gloves with scalloped edges. This body fits her perfectly and could be original to her. Her narrow waist has been reinforced and all else is in excellent aged condition.
Clothes: She is fully dressed in a charming antique costume. Her two piece dress has a hip length jacket. The skirt has a dropped waist – straight at the top and pleated at the bottom. It is wool paid with a burgundy silk insert on the bodice. There is wear to the silk and a few little holes in the wool, but it remains a wonderful sturdy ensemble. Underneath, she wears a chemise, half-slip and bloomers. Finally, she has antique silk stockings and black leather antique side button boots.
