This early French Fashion poupee has an exquisite face! She is marked for Blampoix, who produced some of the earliest ladies from between 1855 – 1870. She has a perfect bisque shoulderhead. She wears an antique mohair wig, antique unders, and a great antique hat, as well as a stunning couturier gown and custom heeled shoes. She also wears a beautiful old necklace that matches her gown. Layaway is always an option, but please contact me to discuss terms prior to purchase. Here are the details:
Shoulderhead: Her early pressed bisque shoulderhead is perfect with no damage or repairs. She is an early doll with almond-shaped threaded cobalt glass eyes, narrow striated brows and artistically rendered accented lips. Her ears are pierced directly into her head. Her head does not swivel, which is typical of these early examples. She wears an antique blond mohair wig of the period. Her rear shoulderplate is marked B 2 S, for Claude Blampoix Senior. Examination: Other than a teeny speckle, I see nothing to report. This is a superior bisque head in every way.
Body: Her original white French kid body is gusseted at the hips. She has individually stitched fingers and toes. Her waist is neatly reinforced with a glued repair at the seam, and there is a round hole on her derriere. This body is firm, sturdy, upright and clean. Her arms are so nice, she still looks great in short sleeves.
Clothes: She is beautifully dressed! Her couturier gown is mauve silk with gold edging. It is fully lined with cotton that expands into a pretty attached long slip with a wide ruffle. I stuff her skirt with tissue for a more impressive display. If you wish to let it hang naturally, you may want to hem it about an inch or lift her slightly in her stand. Underneath, she wears a matched set of lace-trimmed antique unders. She has cream-colored stockings and really nice cream-colored custom slip-on shoes with heels. Her wonderful antique hat has a wired brim. Finally, she wears a lovely old necklace with enameled flower pendant and barrel clasp.
