This wonderful 12" French Fashion doll is the early Bru lady with a Barrois-type face. As expected of these early Bru ladies, she is marked B. Jne and depose. She is pictured on page 36 of Francois Theimer’s BRU BOOK, wearing this same gorgeous, hand-stitched aged costume. She has perfect bisque. She retains her original wig and pate and is wearing her original Bru chemise. Layaway is always an option but please contact me to discuss terms before purchase. Here are her details:
Head: She has a perfect bisque swivel head on a kid-lined shoulderplate. Her painting is neat and perfect. Her cork pate and antique mohair wig are likely original to this doll. She is marked B. Jne on one shoulder and Depose on the other. She is also marked X at the rear rim. Examination: No noted factory imperfections or signs of wear - very nice.
Body: Her original kid body predates the Bru body introduced in the 1870's and is typical of these earlier Bru ladies. She has shapely straight limbs. The leather on one pinky is unstitched, and the remainder of the body is very firm and sound.
Clothes: She is wearing a gorgeous and highly-detailed aged ensemble that is entirely sewn by hand with the most amazing tiny stitches. It fits her like a glove. It is still in excellent aged condition with just some discolorations – no damage noted. Underneath, she wears an antique half slip, Bru Chemise, bloomers, fine antique stockings with pink edging and tan leather tie shoes. She also wears an antique silk hat that is likely original.
