This is a lovely doll from the Sonneberg region of Germany. Her pale bisque head is perfect with a flattened dome and three stringing holes. She has a typical Sonneberg body with wooden upper arms and upper legs. She is fully dressed including dress, slip, bloomers, stockings, a very vintage woven black hat, and nice antique shoes. Head: Her bisque head is perfect with no cracks, chips, or hairlines. She has dark brown glass eyes and a closed mouth. Her head has a solid flattened dome with three stringing holes, and collectors refer to this type of doll as Belton. Her lip painting is especially artistic, and her complexion is extremely pale. She wears a pretty custom-made blonde mohair wig. She is marked simply 12. Factory Imperfections: an occasional speckle. Signs of Wear: None. This is a superb bisque head!
Body: Her typical Sonneberg body is composition with wooden upper arms and wooden upper legs. A blacklight examination reveals touchups around the joints and on one lower leg.
Clothes: She is fully dressed in a charming costume that appears to be made of old fabrics, eyelet, and laces. Her dress is cream-colored with a tiny flowered print. It is liberally decorated with beautiful wide laces. Underneath, she wears a half-slip and bloomers made of linen and edged in eyelet. She has old cream knit stockings and nice antique cream silk tie shoes. Finally, she wears a really nice aged woven hat with cream flowered decoration.
