SOLD ON LAYAWAY
This doll makes such a statement! She is a large and splendid French lady by Jumeau with a perfect bisque head. Her original body is in superb condition and carries the Jumeau stamp. She is wearing fine all-antique clothing, wig, hat and boots. She is very beautiful! Layaway is always an option, but please contact me prior to purchase to discuss terms. Here are the details:
Head: Her bisque head is perfect with no damage or repairs. She has blue paperweight threaded eyes. Her glorious antique human hair wig has long curls reaching to her waist and she also retains her cork pate. She is marked with her size number, 9, as well as several artist marks. Examination: there is nothing to report, she is truly magnificent!
Body: Her original Jumeau-style French kid body is in superb condition. It is very white, clean and sturdy. There is no patching or repairs. Curiously, I did find that long ago someone stitched her hip gussets closed. Since there was no reason for this, I removed the stitching. Her body carries the Jumeau stamp, which was first used in 1878.
Clothes: She is wearing fine All-Antique clothing, including a highly-detailed two-piece antique walking suit. It is created of silk in a tiny green plaid and accented with silk in a flowered pattern. This style was popular circa 1880, which corresponds perfectly with the date of her body mark. Underneath, she wears a camisole, half-slip and bloomers (some small stains from a metal stand). She has cream wool stockings and black leather side button boots with heels. Finally, she wears an outstanding brown and green woven bonnet with ribbon bows and upturned brim. Everything is in very good aged condition
