This is a wonderful early Simon and Halbig doll with molded hair and black hairband. I believe that her antique body and antique clothing are original to her, with only her shoes being replaced. She is a very fine example. Layaway is always an option, but please contact me prior to purchase to discuss terms. Here are the details:
Head: She has a tinted bisque shoulder-head with painted eyes and a closed mouth. Her head is guaranteed to be free of damage or repairs. She has cafe au lait molded hair and her short curls are held in place with a dark brown band. Her ears are pierced directly into her head. She is neatly and perfectly painted in the style of S&H. Indeed, this face is very recognizable to anyone who collects all-bisque dolls from this company - her pleasant face is classic S&H.
Body: Her original antique body is all leather with stitch jointing. Since her clothing is all sewn-on, I can only glimpse her body. It appears to be in excellent condition - firm with no leaking.
Clothes: Her clothing appears to be original. They are all sewn-on and it is likely that they have ever been removed. Her dress has a wool skirt and a silk bodice, although the silk has mostly worn away to the polished cotton lining. There is lace trimming, as well as a ribbon bow at the neckline and a ribbon sash at the waist. Underneath, she wears her matched set of three-piece cotton unders – long half-slip with applied ruffle, full length chemise, and long bloomers. These are all in excellent aged condition. She also wears nice antique black knit stockings and custom-made black leather tie shoes with brown trim.
