This is a very early French Fashion Poupee with a RARE MARKING, JL. She has a desirable CUP AND SAUCER swivel neck attachment, and she is circa 1860. She retains her original wig and pate. Her early French kid lady body has no patching or repairs. She is wearing a fantastic three piece taffeta gown with a matching hat, as well as a full set of unders, boots and stockings. She has a very faint hairline on the back of her head, otherwise her head is extraordinary. This desirable early lady will look stunning in your cabinet and at a great price, too. Here are the details:

Head: She is extremely pale with long narrow cobalt-colored glass eyes, finely-stroked narrow brows and neatly outlined lips. She is marked J.L. on the front shoulderplate. To my knowledge, this rare marking has not yet been identified. In addition to her rare marking, she also has a desirable Cup and Saucer swivel neck. The attachment mechanism goes up through her pate and rests at the head rim. For this reason, her original cork pate has not been removed. You can see the attachment mechanism in my photos. She also retains her original blond mohair wig, which is still attached to her pate. Examination: When I cleaned off the old wig glue residue, I found a very faint Y-shaped hairline on the back of her head. Otherwise, this head is extraordinary with no notable factory imperfections or signs of wear. She is very impressive on display.

Body: Her early French kid lady body is typical of the period, with a very large behind and deep V stitching on the lower torso. The body shows age wear but there are no patches or repairs - very good condition for this early body.

Clothes: She is wearing a fantastic highly-detailed blue taffeta -skirt - all trimmed in black edging. She has a perky black velvet hat. Underneath, she wears a fancy tucked half-slip, a simple matching half-slip, drawstring bloomers and a short camisole. Her unders all appear to be antique, as I see no fluorescent thread when examined with a blacklight. Everything fits perfectly. She has pink silky stockings and black hand-made side button boots.
