Elaine De Kooning Lithograph "Jardin De Luxembourg VI"
Stunning "Bon a Tirer" lithograph of Elaine De Kooning's Jardin De Luxembourg VI series! The lithograph is signed in pencil by Elaine De Kooning and dated 2/11/77. It is also signed "Bon a Tirer", French for "Good to Pull". This is the final proof which was approved for printing of her Jardin De Luxembourg VI series lithograph editions. Elaine was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and was a noted Abstract Expressionist painter who also pursued portrait painting in a semi-realist style. Elaine De Kooning (1918-1989) is the wife of Willem De Kooning the famous painter from New York. They became the leaders of the New York School social set in the 1940's, 50's, and 60's. Elaine De Kooning is becoming less sublimated to that of her famous husband and more appreciated in art circles around the globe. This lithograph is done on BFK Rives paper France and has the watermark in the lower left corner. Measures 29-7/8" x 21-7/8". Excellent condition, unframed.
