• Large hand colored etching by Charles W. Bartlett (860-1940), titled By the Dike Side, Marken, Holland, c. 1908-1912. The image measures 11 1/2 x 15 inches, plus margins. This design is illustrated at plate 57 of
“A Printmaker in Paradise: The Art and Life of Charles W. Bartlett”, 2001, by Richard Miles and Jennifer Saville. In addition to his colored etchings, Bartlett is known for his woodblock print designs of Hawaii, Japan and India, which were published by the leading publisher of Japanese prints of that period, The Watanabe Color Print Co.
This print is in very good condition, aside from some faint toning on the front margins and on the reverse.
