Wonderful Paul Jacoulet woodblock, titled Bergers de Hautes Montagnes. Coree (Shepherds of the High
Mountains, Korean), 297/350, published April 20, 1941. It is pencil
signed and bears the Sparrow seal. This design is illustrated at plate 4 of
Miles, Richard, The Prints of Paul Jacoulet, 1982. The image measures
approximately 15 ½ by 11 ¾ inches, plus full margins. What appears to be a nick in the bottom margin on the right was actually
done intentionally at the time of printing to assist in the alignment of the wood blocks, and is indicative of untrimmed margins.
This print is in excellent condition and the colors are very fresh and intense. The white garment is embossed. This print came from a collection that had never been matted or framed! |
