Original Japanese woodblock print by Ohara Koson (1877-1945), circa 1910, titled alternatively "Geese" or "Two Seated White-fronted Geese, Six in Flight, a Full Moon Above". The design was published by Kokkeido. This is the print that was exhibited at the Hiraki Ukiyo-e Musuem's 1998 Koson exhibition (we bought the collection), and illustrated at plate 18 of the catalogue issued in connection with that exhibition, "Ohara Koson: Artist of Kacho-ga, Prints of Birds and Flowers". The design is also illustrated at plate K11.19 in the new catalogue "Cranes, Crows and Camellias: The Natural World of Ohara Koson". This is a nagaban format print, measuring 19 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches. It is in excellent condition. |
