The genius of the great Imperial ceramicist, Seifu Yohei, is immediately visible in this studio porcelain mizusashi of understated beauty. Its body is subtly enameled with delicate moriage renderings of a conch shell, clam shells and water reeds on a soft, gradated blue ground. The Seifu Yohei incised signature is on the base. This porcelain mizusashi is in excellent condition with only minor wear on the lid consistent with age and use. Height: 6.75", diameter: 5.5" Meiji Period, Japan

A small, yet graceful pure silver tea bowl carved asymmetrically with flowers and foliage in extra-high relief on a partly stippled ground. Its foliated edge leads to a double-walled interior. Signed with pure silver (Jungin) mark and Watanabe signature on base. This fine pure silver bowl is in very good condition with only minor surface wear along the base. Height: 2.5”, diameter: 4.25” Meiji Period, Japan

Here is a wonderful pair of silver-inlaid iron abumi (stirrups) with red lacquered interiors. The abumi are kaga inlaid with butterflies and peony buds. Silver inlaid characters read in translation: "Made by Masahige from Kaga Province, Kanazawa Town." The abumi are in good condition for their age, exhibiting normal wear. A large four-paneled Hirado porcelain baluster vase with demon-head handles at the shoulder. Heavily carved lappets at foot and neck accentuate the varied treatments evident in the panels. All depict majestic cranes flying over turbulent waves - two of the alternating panels carved in the porcelain, the other two rendered in various gradations of underglaze blue. A stained boxwood katabori netsuke sculpted as a Sambaso dancer. The dancer wears characteristic high hat and formal attire. He is caught in mid-dance, one foot in the air with arms bent back and head turned upwards. (Sambaso dance originated in the 9th century as a religious dance. This is an exquisite tripodic cloisonné koro in the shape of an ancient Chinese bronze vessel with two upturned handles and pierced cover. The body is decorated with kiku and wisteria surrounding a pond laden with ducks swimming in a glistening, black enamel ground. The koro is executed with very fine wire work and is in excellent condition with no chips, dents or restoration. Height: 6.5", diameter: 6.25" Meiji Period, Japan
