An elegant four-case gold, silver and roiro lacquered inro secured with a golden silk string and gilt ojime. A stunning visual is depicted in hiramaki-e of temple retreats scattered across a meandering river, islets populated by pine trees and connecting bridges. At a distance, rolling hills executed in silver togidashi method. Interiors are rendered in dense nashiji (“pear-skin” lacquer technique). This fine lacquered inro is in excellent condition. A Shibayama and gold-lacquered inro comprised of four cases strung together by a gold-silk cord and small carnelian ojime. Two exquisite panels on kinji grounds display intricate encrusted images of gnarled plum blossom trees and rocks. Playful sparrows cavort around the panels and trees. A stained wood netsuke sculpted as a seated mouse holding a chestnut within his paws, its fur finely incised and eyes inlaid with jet. This is a luxurious five-case, gold-lacquered inro depicting a grove of foliage and flowers in gold and silver takamaki-e on a gold kinji ground. The foliage is naturalistically rendered with kirikane details, the interiors executed in rich amber-colored nashiji. A coral ojime keeps the woven silk string in place. This inro is in very good condition with the raised signature of Kogyoku Sai on the base. 19th Century, Japan

A beautifully crafted brown-lacquer pipe case deeply carved on one side with a bird in flight over peonies, a butterfly over foliage on the other. The pouch, of extremely fine embroidery, depicts three samurai seated in a forest. Its bronze kanemono modeled as a cockerel with gold and multi-metal inlays, the ojime carved as waves with spume. A fine nashiji-ground, three-case inro with two round medallions, front and reverse, illustrating six of the one hundred poets in gold, silver and red –colored lacquers on a gold-sprinkled ground.
