This is a full-bodied silver vase, its shape enhanced by the lively representation of moriage flying fish covering its surface. Stylized, finely incised waves with gold detailing wind in and out, the movement of each designed to catch shimmering light. This extraordinary example of Japanese silver is a signed work by Isozaki Yoshia and is in excellent condition with no dents, damage or restoration. A stained wood netsuke carved as a recumbent goat, its regal head turned skyward. This classic pose is expertly rendered with deeply striated layers of the creature’s fur and undercut horns. In Japanese art, the sheep and the goat are often interchangeable. Most notably, the goat/sheep is associated with legendary characters such as the Taoist Sennin. This is an ingeniously crafted ikebana basket formed as a fishing boat, its body intricately woven with fine bamboo strands interspersed with sections of rootwood. Bamboo reeds worked for the bow and stern, and twisted bamboo applied to either side of the mat-plaited deck provide additional support and aesthetic charm. The piece is lacquered a rich mahogany color, adding to its beauty. This delightful basket is in very good condition.

Here is a soft sea-green celadon vase of globular shape. On its lustrous, watery surface, pastel-hued fish in low relief swim among carved seaweed. The round Suwa Sozan II signature is found on the base. The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. (For an almost identical vase, see "The Nasser D. This is a charming boxwood netsuke of two seated rabbits facing opposite directions, one with its paw on a persimmon branch.Their bodies are delicately modeled, the fine, incised work simulating the creatures' furry coats. Their eyes are inlaid with mother-of-pearl and the bottom of the piece is brilliantly carved to indicate their tails and the soles of their feet in the most naturalistic manner.
