This is a charming boxwood netsuke of two seated rabbits facing opposite directions, one with its paw on a persimmon branch.Their bodies are delicately modeled, the fine, incised work simulating the creatures' furry coats. Their eyes are inlaid with mother-of-pearl and the bottom of the piece is brilliantly carved to indicate their tails and the soles of their feet in the most naturalistic manner.
