This is a lovely silver and multi-metal kogo formed as a recumbent crane, its neck snuggled in its plumage. The crane's shibuichi body is delicately modeled in low relief with shakudo tail and textured gilt crest, the silver interiors finely polished. Incised characters and two cartouches on its base read: "Gift for wedding of Takeko". This small kogo has slight discoloration to the shibuichi, (see detail shot #2) however, this does not affect the overall charm of the ko ...click for details

A Japanese silver okimono of Daikoku, one of the Seven Gods of Good Luck, seated on two bales of rice with his magic mallet in hand and treasure sack over his back. The god of prosperity is carefully chiseled to denote his noble yet benign appearance. Daikoku is in excellent condition with no damage. This is an ingeniously crafted ikebana basket formed as a fishing boat, its body intricately woven with fine bamboo strands interspersed with sections of rootwood. Bamboo reeds worked for the bow and stern, and twisted bamboo applied to either side of the mat-plaited deck provide additional support and aesthetic charm. The piece is lacquered a rich mahogany color, adding to its beauty. This delightful basket is in very good condition.
