Of an unusual compressed form often attributed to Namikawa Yasuyuki, this three-footed cloisonné teapot has an elegant handle, its lid with flower-shaped finial. The enameled body resembles a kaleidoscope of colors ranging from jewel-toned greens, blues, reds, pinks, orange, yellow and indigo. In a highly technical and intricate style, ogee-shaped cartouches contain ho-o birds under floral and geometrically patterned brocades. The round, concave base exhibits stylized kiku on a stream with vivid colors. This exquisite cloisonné teapot is in very good condition, the interior with a layer of protective enamel. Height: 6.5", diameter: 6" Meiji Period, Japan
