| A covered, round wood zushi executed with multi -colored lacquers on a rich red-lacquered ground, its lid with lotus petals in silver and gold hiramaki-e. The interior reveals Amida Buddha seated on a lotus throne carved in high relief with colored lacquers, the inside cover with lotus flowers and leaves swirling beside a meandering stream. This unusual traveling shrine is in very good condition and includes its original floral- printed silk pouch. Diameter: 2.5" 19th Century (Edo Period), Japan | |||||||
