| A lively, boxwood study of a recumbent ox with folded legs formed as a netsuke with himotoshi on nether side. The ox sits with its head resting on its front legs, nose rope-tied to bridle. The mother-of-pearl eyes are deeply inset, enhancing the ox's charming expression. This netsuke is unsigned, School of Tomotada, and is in excellent condition with minor wear commensurate with age. Late 19th Century, Japan | ||||||||
