Ivory Okimono of a Fisherman and Two Boys
A marvelously carved ivory sculpture of a fisherman with cormorant watching as his two boys try to release themselves from the tentacles of an powerful octopus. This ivory okimono is in very good condition with only a minor separation on the father’s toe. Otherwise, this is a charming, fascinating ivory sculpture. Incised signature on base reads Shinzan. Height: 4” 19th Century, Japan
