|A stunning and unusual pair of Fukagawa vases, their bodies decorated with ogee-shaped brocading along the rims in gray and turquoise enamels. Elegant red-capped cranes at the base of a gnarled pine burrow their beaks into their bodies, surrounded by blossoming peonies. On the reverse, a lone crane soars in mid- flight. Brilliant tones of gray and cobalt with accents in iron red, green and turquoise lend drama to the imagery. Red Koransha mark on bases. This pair of porcelain vases is in mint condition with no damage and no restoration. Heights: 12.5” Meiji Period (circa 1870s), Japan|
