A wood -carved and gold-lacquered netsuke of Hyottoko, the salt blower. With his face characteristically contorted, this well-known figure is about to perform his act. (Netsuke subjects range from gods, demons, legends, animals and also colorful personages, like the salt blower, the latter, from daily life. Signed by the master mask netsukeshi, Deme Uman, listed in Bushell book as a noted Tokyo artist, family pupil of the famous Deme mask carvers.
