A Satsuma vase set on three leafy feet, its unusual form highlighting a flared mouth and narrow waist. At the neck, an informal procession of samurai, bijin and children enjoy an outing under finely patterned brocading. At the waist, the imagery transitions to a floral brocade in rich enamels and gilt, with alternating lappets in moriage. Along the base, a children’s musical band parades with banners and instruments. Ryozan gilt signature and Yasuda mark on base. This magnificent Satsuma vase is in excellent condition. Height: 6 1/8” Meiji Period, Japan
