A rare iron tsuba of round form executed with delicacy in the itozukashi style, its thin, thread-like piercing similar to the fluid forms found in clerical calligraphy. The Yin and Yang motif carved in low relief on the front represent symbols of harmony. A gold-inlaid signature cartouche of Seiriuken Yeiju can be found on the front, along with the incised signature and kao. This tsuba is in great condition and was featured in the British Red Cross Society and the Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem in England Catalogue #1301 October 1935. 19th Century, Japan
