A shibuichi, three-legged, silver-lined censer of compressed globular form. On its rounded lid, a perfectly-modeled okimono of a beloved rat forms the finial. In high relief, a large, leafy radish detailed with gilt embraces the body while a companion rat, also in relief, scrounges for food. The artist’s choice of alloys, gilt and silver for this censer imbue the piece with subtle, intriguing beauty. This marvelous multi-metal incense burner is in excellent condition. Munehiro’s incised signature can be found on the base. Height: 5”, width: 4.5” Meiji Period, Japan
