A naturalistically sculpted bronze okimono of a striding cat with an elegant ruffled collar accented with gold. The artist carefully chiseled the animal’s heavy fur coat and inquisitive eyes, the latter inlaid with silver and shakudo. Seiya’s signature cartouche impressed on nether side.(Seiya was a famous metallurgist of the Meiji Period, beloved for his careful study of animals and their natural depiction, including subtle nuances as seen in this okimono.) This bronze and multi-metal sculpture is in excellent condition. Length: 11.5” Meiji Period, Japan
