A fine gold and silver lacquer four-case inro of oval shape with bone ojime bead. Using multiple lacquer techniques, its visual is of an old, gnarled pine serves as the roost for a marvelous hawk ready to pounce upon the innocent song birds on its reverse. (The majestic hawk with its predatory skills often serves in Japanese art as a symbolic samurai crest and design element.) This stunning gold-lacquer inro is in excellent condition.
