An elegant, bronze three-footed plate modeled in high relief with parcel gilt, silver, shakudo and copper. A boldly carved image of a seated Urashamo Taro with his future wife - an exquisite silver-modeled minegame - is beautifully framed by a copper and gilt border inlaid with delicate sprays of peony flowers and butterflies. This rare and marvelous plate with beloved, mythological theme comes from the hand of the renowned metalwork artist Miya-o Eisuke of Yokohama. Noted for his parcel-gilt figural sculptures, the incised signature of the artist is rendered on the front of this pristine artwork. Diameter: 10” Meiji Period, Japan
