A pair of covered Imari porcelain jars, each finial formed as a mouse on a bale of rice. Charming, naïve-looking doves perch upon the boughs of a blossoming sakura tree, their heads turned and tail feathers ruffled. To complete the idyllic scene, butterflies flit above peonies and tall grasses. This lovely pair of unusual Imari jars is in excellent condition with no problems and no repair – only slight surface rubbing to the gilt, commensurate with age and use. Heights: 10.5” Late Edo Period, 19th Century, Japan
