A Satsuma bowl with slightly flared rim adorned with gilt Greek fret design and band of karakusa along its exterior walls. Within, a lively scene of karako loading a treasure boat—“takarabune” theme. On board, the passengers in this treasure boat are the “Seven Household Gods of Good Luck” engaged in amicable conversation. Above, Jurojin makes a grand entrance riding on his attribute, the honored crane. Fine details in richly colored enamels and gilt on a traditional-crackled ground. Gilt signature of Kaizan can be found on base. This unique Satsuma bowl is in excellent condition. Diameter: 6.75”, height: 2.5” Meiji Period, Japan
