An Iga-yaki (Iga ware) mizusashi with black-lacquered cover. This tea ceremony fresh water jar is hand-made in the characteristic style of the beloved Iga ware—a rustic unglazed body of irregular form with small “katamimi” handles sculpted along the neck. An enamel glaze dramatically dripping from the top and down the sides is rendered in a soft beige hue with crackled finish. This one-of-a-kind piece is in excellent condition. Height: 8.25”, width: 8” Edo Period, Japan
