A copper-patinated bronze vase of modified mei-ping form. An abstracted image of a shakudo kaga-inlaid stream is embellished with chrysanthemum buds in applied abalone shell. This multi-media piece is a striking example of Japanese innovation during its Golden Age—Meiji Period (1868-1912). Very good condition with minimal wear. Incised signature on side of “Shokensai Yoshiiku Saku” and enameled plaque of “Seiju to”. Height: 3.5” Meiji Period, Japan
