This is a brilliant silver, shakudo and gilt rectangular box on four free-form feet. On its shakudo lid two geese stand among gilt bamboo while a third preens itself closeby. Worked in silver and gilt on a rich shakudo ground, the scene is executed in takazogan (high relief) with fine incised details. This superbly made silver box exhibits the artist's signature on the cover, which reads: "Toshihisa." The box is in excellent condition with no dents or loss. Length: 5.5" Meiji Period, Japan
