An elegant iron sukashi tsuba formed as a majestic Manchurian crane with open wings. The dark iron metal is accented with gilt nunome zogan detailing. The crane in East Asian culture is associated with longevity and also with Fukurokuju, one of the Seven Lucky Gods. This exquisite tsuba is in very good condition with only minor wear to the gilt, commensurate with age and use. Diameter: 3.25” Edo Period, Japan
