 Sold, many thanks!
An unusual iron and gilt-inlaid cabinet on self-stand. Most often these splendid kodansu are emblazoned with images of Kyoto on their surfaces. This rare chest’s two side-by-side doors frame a large silver and gold-inlaid image of a bijin and attendant within a fenced-in garden. Scenes from nature, mythology and Mt. Fuji adorn the remainder with a golden door latch opening to reveal five small drawers within. This exquisite Komai-style cabinet is in excellent condition with only slight wear to the silver-inlaid section. Height: 6”, width: 4.5”, depth: 2.25” Meiji Period, Japan
