An attractive Imari porcelain plate formed as a clam shell with scalloped edge. Its border is decorated with alternating floral and textile patterns in iron red and blue enamel with gilt detailing. On its pristine white surface a grove of chrysanthemum flowers on their leafy stems appear windswept. This uniquely-formed Imari plate is in very good condition with only slight wear to the gilt, commensurate with age. Length: 13”, width: 13” 19th Century, Japan
