An ingeniously sculpted russet iron tsuba of the seated lucky god, Hotei, leaning against his characteristic treasure sack. The lucky god of mirth fans himself with an uchiwa fan while resting his head on his other hand. His joyful expression and welcoming demeanor is accentuated by gold, silver and shakudo takazogan detailing. This fine tsuba is both intriguing and marvelously rendered. Good condition with only minor surface wear due to age and use. Length: 3.5”, width: 3” Late Edo Period, Japan
